Mixed emotions for those who have been jailbroken though...I'm excited for the new firmware but nervous about it undoing jailbreaking or causing other issues on a jailbroken ipod. Anyone heard anything on this topic?

Is this for the Ipod Touch to?
Whats the deal with the applications to the touch, will they be free?

I heard 1.1.3 comes out right after the Superbowl and confirmation?

1.1.3 Firmware Is Out! Adding It To My iPod Touch Now.. See What Happens..

I've just updated my ipod touch with firmware 1.1.3... very disappointing as it doesn't seem any different, apart from safari. No new apps, or anything!

Anonymous said...

I just updated, didn't pay anything but the only difference I've seen so far is the image of a dock down at the bottom. A 160 mb update for just that? Odd.

UK user - just went to purchase the iPod Touch update, they've taken my cash but no update is available. Checked my account page and I've been charged for it twice. Great.

I just bought the Jan. software update also from iTunes...Synched and nothing happened. No new apps. Called Apple Support and they told me they have no solution to the problem and I should check back over the next few days so they can come up with one. Very apologetic but WTF??

Thought I had the same problem after purchasing the Software Upgrade via iTunes and applying the 1.1.3 Firmware Update. But then I did a Sync and the New Apps showed up. My Firmware level also shows up as 1.1.3 (Software Upgrade) now. Have to admit that it was more of a chore than I expected from Apple.

same to me (germany

I had the same thing happen to me. Charged me for the package, gave me the updated dock... but no apps, no customizable home screen. So I gave apple a call. They said they dont know why some of the packages didnt get the apps, but the will have more information in the next 24 hours... I got a case number from them, so they have records of my transaction and I guess the fixed update will come asap i hope

I just updated to v1.1.3 for my ipod touch and it takes on more features as the iPhone, my carrier icon says AT&T instead of iPod. And my dock is exactly the same as the iphone's. The bad news is, you can't downgrade to v1.1.1 to jailbreak your iPod, it sucks.

Anonymous said...

I just upgraded my iPod touch and purchased all the new apps as well...my firmware version is now 1.1.3 but like everyone else only the dock appears different. What gives?!?

Anonymous said...

yeah, how can you get this new applications, you need to pay for them, what happens?

today i jailbroke my iPod Touch...
and i did somehting and it screwed up my iPod. so i restored it and now its fine... it did an automatic update to 1.1.3.
so now i cant jailbreak again..

I have just updated my touch to 1.13, and I only see the dock looking a bit cooler than it was before. I really hope that wasn't the only thing they did, what else is there?

Anonymous said...

Same thing happened to me. I got charged 3 times with no update.... E-mailed itunes... Waiting for a reply.....

ah, I see what you have to do. You need to get Ituns 7.6 and update your touch to 1.1.3 or whatever and than you go on Apple.com and go to the Ipod Touch section and buy the Jan. 08 softwhere updated from there and than it will download it. Its really amazing. Here is a link.

Omg I can't wait till tomorrow! The only thing I am looking forward to is the customizatiom. I know I could try jail breaking but I tried that on my last ipod touch and needed to exchange it for another one so I don't trust that crap that hall do. Ide rather wait for updates than not my tocuh

Anonymous said...

hey, how did you download and install the new update without paying?

Anonymous said...

same for me, went to purchase new update, was charged twice $20 and after download and sync with my iPod touch, nothing was instaled :( was charged twice for nothing :(

Why did you pay for your update? Agreed, a bit disappointed by update. I wasn't expecting 'an all singing change' but considering what the iPhone's changes were I feel somewhat cheated.

What I do not understand, is why do we the Touch users have to pay for the new apps if they are coming on the Touchs just released? To me this is a rip off. Apple should let use have them for free. I was dissappointed when I updated my firmware last night and all I got new was the shiny user bar. WFFT!

it ready im downloading the 1.1.3 now

Anonymous said...

the update is gay plus just keep ur ipod in 1.1.2 where its jailbroken and you don't really know when some one is comin ou with jailbreak for 1.1.3. sooooooooo.

Anonymous said...

there is new apps is for the iPod touch I have insatalled them.

Important you need to install firm wire 1.1.3 then buy the $20 install you will need to unhook your ipod touch iphone from your com once you have done so it will rebote then slide unlock it and the installer will be there. Note if you have jailbroken your iPod touch iPhone it has a higher chance of bricking. I have found a way to set your iPod touch iPhone back to factory but I do not think people who have jailbroken their device should know how to do it.

For those of you who had paid for the update and so should have the apps but they don't appear on your ipod. Check your syncing options in iTunes... apparently if you have set syncing to manual then the apps won't go onto your ipod touch. So in iTunes set the sync to auto, click apply (sync) and your apps should appear on your ipod!

This update is ridiculous... I made a complaint to Apple.. abd everyday I will make a new complaint about charging for this update... here is the link to make a complaint http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
Make Steve Jobs know what we feel!!

Just like someone said above .. make sure you have the newest version of Itunes and it will update and load the new apps (if you buy them)The processis nice and easy as long as you are up to date on everything. And make sure you sync it after you download the new apps

WTF we pay £279 (in the uk)(sorry dont know what it is in the us)

to pay more for updates? so unnecessary, im anoyed, having to fork out more, just to receive more apps.

what a whole pile of f**king money making scammers

in response to RIKI

anyone who has jailbroken their ipod will no doubt be knowledgable enough to restore their ipod to factory settings, this isnt exactly rocket science and its aa easy as a quick search on google or Youtube.

I had mine jailbroke at the start but reverted back to factory settings as i found there to be no applications that i found usefull. So im sure the world will not be heartbroken that you dont share your wisdom with bad jailbrakers!

I am a little pi55ed about having to pay for it but im sure the app's will be better than jailbroken ones!

I am severely disappointed that Apple has chosen to charge for the apps that already come with the iPhone and will come with new iPod Touches. While $20 is not an enormous sum, the fact that all us iPod Touch owners paid the same amount for our devices ($400) as iPhone users and now we have to pay a discriminating early adopter 'tax' for choosing one device over the other is appalling. These 'new' apps did not have to be changed or modified to work on the Touch, they simply have to be installed. Why should we pay for something that others get for free?

Anonymous said...

Haha! I just upgraded to 1.1.3 and my custom carrier is still there after i used MakeItMine through Installer on 1.1.2 jailbroken! The update is useless but thats just fun!

i found a new thing with the update
its pretty gay but when your watching movies you can tap the screen and then click the new icon that you can see and you can go to different chapters in the movie.

I got it for free =D

wth...
u guys have to pay
i didn't
is it to do with the country you live in?
i live in New Zealand and i got it for free
you would think the U.S and U.K would get it free not New Zealand

ok i bought my itouch the year before last or early last year and it came with 1.1.3 on it so i dont know whats up with that (i live in New Zealand btw) and i've never been able to sync apps onto it, my friend who got the newer version after her first was stolen tried to put her apps onto mine but it told her i needed to update my software... there is no update unless i convert it to an iphone!! my brother bought an iphone and his works fine but mine still doesnt even have a tab (when you plug it into itunes) that says apps and i cant do a full on sync cause i'll loose all my music again!
