I checked apple discussion board for ipod touch saw many wi-fi questions. So I thought this is not a trick but it is a tip on how to setup your ipod touch for wireless.
First ask your self do you have secured or unsecured wireless connection?
If secured:
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Wi-FI
3. Click on Your Wireless
4. Punch in your WEP key
5. Connect to it.
If NOT Secured
Follow all steps above except no.4

ok so the wifi on my ipod used to work but i went to use it one day and it just says safari cant open the page because it cant find the server and i tried doing the thing with the network but it has this lock thing next to it and so i even put the wep key in but it still sayz it cant find the server. if you could help it would be appreciated.

Try reseting your router to faculty default and then configuring it. On the back of the router should be a reset button but note that you'll need the cd for the router or else you have to either go through the hard way or buying a completely new router.

I have the new iPod touch. My wifi at home was working fine, then one day it wouldn't connect. I reset everything with my iPod and tried resetting my network and all. you really need to contact apple if you have any problems. Theres no point waiting for it to fix itself. Explain your problem to them and get it replaced.

My Itouch was connecting to my wi-fi router but then i had to change the router now am using AN1020-21 modem & my touch detects the SSID but when i punch in the pass phrase it gives an error "unable to connect to SSID Dismiss".
I have reset the Itouch couple of times no use. when i clicke on the arrow next to d SSID ">" i dont get the IP Address, DNS server, Subnet Mask all are blank & i can't punch in figures in any of them other than DNS.

Okay, so I've had my itouch for about a year now and I've never had this issue. It's a second generation and in good condition. I just recently updated it to iOS 4.2.1 and it was working jsut fine. I set my itouch to airplane mode ONCE and airplane mode wouldn't turn off. Of course, I eventually got it to turn off, but now every time I try to turn my wifi on, my itouch instantly turns it back off. Why is it turning the wifi off on its own? I really need help with this. And, in addition to all that, it has the little check beside my home network, but the bars don't appear at the top, and then when I forget the network and try to re-connect, the wi-fi either keeps turning itself off, or saying that it is unable to join. I have two iPod touch at home, one first generation and one second generation. The older model works without problems, however, the 2G disconnects from the wifi network every 10 mns or so (though it still shows that I have signal in the top left corner). I have to go into the settings and turn the internet on and off to reconnect. None of my other wireless devices have that issue.
Oh and to make things a little bit more complicated. I initially set up my wifi network with a computer that I no longer have and I cannot recall how to get into my router settings (or the password to get in)... sooooo... any ideas?

I just found out my Wifi password so i tryed to type it into my iPod, and the first time I did it it just said to enter it again. So i waited a couple days. and I just did it and i typed it in, and it said "Unable to connect"

My ipod touch 1st gen doesn't connect to any network. It says it is searching for a network but it doesn't find any network. It used to randomly work when banged against something but that no longer works and was probably detrimental to the ipod itself.
My ipod was connecting perfectly fine. Last night, the wifi crashed somehow and we couldn't get wifi throughout the whole house. We fixed it and my computer got wifi. Hey, I got a new ipod touch 4th gen 32gb and I also just got my computer router thing fixed after a black out. The router wasn't working and we couldn't access the internet o our desktop. TWC guy came and fixed it and the computer internet works fine. a few days after that i got my new ipod and ive been having problems that ive never had for previous ipods. I go to the settings then wifi section and my wifi name thing pops up. I hit the littel > and ener the password and it all works out and it gets a little check mark. I have full wifi access but safari always says "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet"! Ive tried other networks and tried forgetting the network a million times. I hit renew lease 2579877 times. its DHCP and the IP adress is 169.254.9.89 and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. everything under it is blank though! It says Http proxy is off. Check that your router is not blocking your ipods Wi-Fi address. My Linksys router must see the ipod as 'dangerous' and added the Wi-Fi address to the blocked list under Wireless MAC filters. Once I removed the address from this list - it connected instantly!

i bought my ipod touch last week, it was connecting to the internet fine. it connected earlier today, to my wifi, but now it wont connect. when i click on my wifi network in the menu, a pop up reading "unable to join the network" comes up. Then when i view the network, all the information is gone (the IP address, subnet mask etc) that was JUST there a moment a go. How do i correct this problem?
I had the same problem i had wifi but the stuff that used wifi stoped working. I went to settings, then general. then go down to reset and click it, it will ask what you want to reset choose reset network settings. it will go to a black loading screen and reset. then just re-connect to your wifi and it should all work again

Dec-10-2011 : WiFi from IPOD Touch WORKED !!!!!!
1. Change your Router's WEP Key to "Key1", 64 bit encryption (10 digit pwd). This Router Key is the Password for wi-fi
2. Restart the Router (turn it's power off for about 2-3 minutes)
3. Reset the Network Settings from IPOD (NOT factory settings, it will remove all data)
4. Restart IPOD
5. Try connecting using the new pwd, it should work. It worked for me after so many frustrating wi-fi connection attempts.

Help, I have been reading all the posts, i have done many of the things that were suggested. I recently changed my internet service, and since then can not log on with any of the ipods. It says we are connected, but its really not. I looked at the IP address on my computer and it is entirely different, i changed the IP address on the ipod and still nothing. I am at a loss.

when i go to the wifi settings, and click on a network it does this thing were it looks like its trying to connect and never does.. what do i do?
I have been having the same problem making my IPod touch wirelessly sync to ITunes on my PC, and I found an answer that worked for me.
I turned off the Vipre firewall, and after a short delay, wireless sync began working. So, I had to figure out why and how to configure the firewall to not block something. There are lots of other people suggesting firewall answers, but none of them worked. For me the answer was not just opening some ports, as was suggested.
While watching the firewall logs, between different configurations, I finally knew what I had to do, and eventually found the right configuration. Now I get wireless synching with the firewall fully enabled.
What worked was to add an exception to the firewall rules for the program,
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe".
This means when the firewall notices a packet coming for that application (the one used to wirelessly sync with IOS devices) it allows it.
Hope this is a useful suggestion for the other folks having this issue.
