You can download TruePhone via iTunes and yes it's free, but to call landlines and mobile phones it is not, you will have to pay few cents per minute in order to call somebody.

Ipod Touch Wireless Troubleshooting Mistakes

So far I received over 450 emails to help people troubleshooting Ipod Touch Wifi. And most common mistake was the WEP key mismatch. Itouch users instead of placing 26 character (128bit) long key they put windows-mac user password, email passwords, and passphrase.

Another most common mistake was connecting to some WiFi Router that isn't theirs. On many occasions I asked "Is the router you are connecting to, yours or your neighbours?"

Always check broadcast SSID (in router configuration page) before connecting to wifi via Itouch.

I totally understand that some or most people do not know much about WEP keys and I don't blame them! I blame Apple for putting so little information on how to use Ipod Touch or connect via WiFi.

January Update In Ipod Touch 2.0 Firmware Upgrade

According to Tuaw Ipod Touch 2.0 firmware upgrade will include January update for 5 apps that were included. I did not upgrade because friend that works at Apple told me that 2.0 will include and will be less cheaper , he was write but I did not believe until today when it was confirmed.

PS:He said that they are already working on the next release!!

Ipod Touch Upgrade from 1.1.4 to 2.0 Firmware

Everyone is looking for 2.0 firmware upgrade for Ipod Touch 1.1.4 .It will cost you $10 but don't worry by tonight or "tomorrow" Cali. time we all will be able to upgrade. As of right now (Jul 10th 4:25PM CST) there is no update for Ipod Touch only Iphoner's can upgrade to 2.0.

I think Apple is totally unfair to Ipod Touch users.

First they f***ed us with January upgrade where you get 5 icons for $30. Then they offer Ipod Touch Upgrade 2.0 for $10 with over 135 free apps!, and not to forget your January update will be deleted (as far as I heard).

But that's not all!! Iphone'rs get update Today but Ipod Touche'rs have to wait until tomorrow! WTF?

Yes, I can wait another day for this update, but from the business prospective Apple really knows how to pull nerves on people like me.

UPDATE: If you download iTunes 7.7 from Apple.com yes you will see all nice free apps but guess what ? They all say "You need Ipod Touch 2.0 Firmware" well where is it?

Update Your Ipod Touch and get iTunes 7.7 App Store

Apple just released new version of iTunes which will allow you to see all the goodies for Ipod Touch Upgrade. I tried to upgrade iTunes via Help, but that will now work so go to Apple.com click on iTunes, download 57MB file and upgrade it that way.

So as I heard that January updates that were released by Apple for Ipod Touch cost 30$, but the upgrade to Ipod Touch 2.0 will cost only 10$.

Google Talk (GTalk) on Ipod Touch

Google managed to change Gtalk (Google Talk) browser functionality for Iphone and Ipod Touch. Now when you use chat and go to different browser it will mark your status as "unavailable" or "busy" . I must say that Gtalk improvement looks better and it's easier to chat with somebody.

Ipod Touch Wifi Troubleshooting via Email

Since January of this year I have received 294 emails regarding Wifi problems that multiple ipod touch users had. From 294 emails I managed to fix 233 ipod touch devices and 19 was faulty and needed to be returned.

Other 42 Ipod Touch either did not get any responses back after I sent them an email or just couldn't get it to work.

Most problems occurred:

• Wrong password Input (Admin password vs. Wep Key)
• 64Bit Encrytion vs 128Bit encryption
• Did not Release/Renew to obtain new IP
• Did not restart modem/router to acknowledge Ipod Touch

Some other problems:

• Email did not work
• Sync with iTunes
• Safari constantly crashing
• Jailbreak was not installed correctly

I downloaded my self to test and here is my quick review.

Ipod Touch Msn Yahoo Aim Messenger

Last night I was having issues with my linux box connecting to my msn yahoo and aim messenger. I open Safari with my Ipod Touch and login to meebo.com and there are all my messengers!

That was my backup plan of communicating with all my friends.

Other thing I did is I open another tab and went to twitter.com awesome site for Iphone or Ipod Touch to write 140 characters message to all people that follow you.

Ipod Touch Hacks and JailBreak 1.1.4

I haven't really write anything about hacking Ipod Touch. Yet there is so much stuff now that you can get if you JailBreak your Ipod Touch.

Here is how you can JailBreak 1.1.4 your Ipod Touch

1. Restore your Ipod Touch (This will erase EVERYTHING on Ipod Touch)

2. Download ZiPhone (Software that will allow you to JailBreak Ipod Touch)

• In case you can't install it you need .Net

3. While your Ipod Touch is still plugged in Run ZiPhone!

• Click JailBreak!

4. Lets Start!

• See Install Tab? Click all Packages and also install BSD SubSystem!
• Now on Source Tab add this url http://ipodtouchmaster.com/files/repo.xml to see other applications
  
• Install Tab Should Show Iphone 1.1.4 Apps (install that)
• Add this Source Too http://iphonebigboss1.com/repo/repo.xml
• Then on install click all packages and install Boss Tool as well.
  

Now that things are installed Ipod Touch should refresh when you click HOME button.

You can uninstall BossTool by clicking on it then click Uninstall Tab.

FYI ,
I am no expert in Jailbreak but this list of info is just a summary which I think will help you get started. And don't blame me if you did something else then above. You are doing JailBreak on your own responsibility.

Ipod Touch Case by OtterBox Review

Few months ago I had awesome Ipod Touch case by Otterbox and we had March Contest. Well today I just want to give you review of what the winner of Ipod Touch Case by Otterbox thought about it.

Me and my iPod Touch are inseparable, but what are you going to do when you’re on a boat. Do you take the risk – seeing your iPod falling in the water – or do you leave your iPod and your music at home. I live in the Netherlands – I don’t know if any of you Americans know where the Netherlands are – but it’s a small country next to the sea, a couple of feet under sea level. The huge load of water (the sea, lakes, rivers) make it possible for you to do whatever water based sport you want. For example me, I sail in my pastime. And that’s the reason I wanted a Otterbox for my iPod Touch.

On the box they say it’s waterproof to 3 feet deep. That’s not enough if you want do dive with your iPod (who want to dive with his iPod anyway?), but it’s perfectly suitable for when your iPod accidentally falls in the water. It will keep floating for a while so you’ve got some time to take it back. Ideal for people who are on a boat.

Another great point about this box, is the fact that it prevents your iPod from scratches on the back and front. The backside of your iPod will be kept clean by the plastic Otterbox (a couple of millimeter thick). The front of your iPod, including the touch screen, got protected by a transparent (much thinner) piece of plastic – so you can touch your iPod Touch whenever you want, without opening the whole box. This huge protection, will prevent your iPod from water damage (see above), but also from dirt and other ‘dangerous’ stuff like keys or sand from a beach.

This Otterbox is great for people who do outdoor things now and again. Things like being on a (sail)boat, being in the forest, being on the beach, etcetera. Things where your iPod can get damaged or dirty.

There’s just one - big - negative point. And that’s how the Otterbox look like. He doesn’t win a beauty contest. The box is huge and too thick on many places. If you want something like a Otterbox in your pockets, you’ve got to have very large pockets. It’s very regrettable for the beautiful designed iPod Touch, if you put it in a (very) less beautiful box like this.

But that’s the consequence if you want a safe box. You have to return some beauty and you get some safety for it. What do you want? A beautiful iPod that will last for (I don’t know) one year? Or a ‘ugly’ iPod that will last much longer? A hard question, but there is a solution. Use your Otterbox only when your iPod will have hard times. Use it when you are on the beach for example. You can listen you your favorite music without wondering when your iPod will damaged by the sand. If you’re at school or at work – much safer, you can use your iPod without the case.

But that doesn’t take away the fact this box is a very useful box. I use this box every time I am my boat. I’ll recommend this box for sure.

Exclusive News: Ipod Touch Firmware 2.0

Moments ago I found out there is "development guy" on net that has Ipod Touch /Iphone Firmware 2.0 ! Somehow this firmware 2.0 leaked out of Apple Development Team which is performing beta testing.

I have also being told this firmware 2.0 will not be available via iTunes or Apple Store , only way to get it is to download it manually.

Apple might change that, because not many ipod touch and iphone users are very tech savy to install firmware "manually"


ADT (Apple Development Team) is probably using software like Pwnage in order to test firmware 2.0..

As it looks like we are looking for new firmware very soon!

Microsoft Working on Ipod Touch Apps?

Rumor that I got via email:Microsoft has specialized team for Ipod Touch and Iphone to develop Applications in near future.

Tom Hibbons works for Microsoft in Specialized Devices department.He stated that his team and him self are happy to develop applications for Iphone as well as for Ipod Touch. For now these applications are only available for internal use but soon to be released to public.

I do see the point Microsoft doing that due to their products advertising on Iphone and Ipod Touch, but how and why would Apple let that happen so easy?
